TITLE: 1965 TRIUMPH TR4

VIN: CT39481L

MILES: 21,750

OWNER MILES: 19,000

HISTORY: This Triumph TR4 was purchased by the owner’s deceased husband in 2009. He previously had a Triumph TR3A that we serviced, and then sold, so he could move up to a more modern car (with roll-up windows) in 2009. It was a South Carolina car that had been restored previously. He drove it frequently and for long distances during the Ohio driving season. Under our care for the last 13 years, besides annual regular maintenance services, the following items have been replaced/rebuilt:

New Generator New Aluminum Radiator

New Vredestein Sprint Classic Tires (2009) New Water Pump & Pulley

New Spark Plugs New Rocker Arms & Shaft

Cylinder Head Refurbished New Halogen Headlights

Carburetors Rebuilt New Distributor

Engine Rebuilt New Clutch & Pressure Plate

New Battery New Steering Rack

New Tie Rod Ends New Dayton Wire Wheels

New Brake Master Cylinder New Rear Wheel Cylinders

New Moss Muffler New Custom Exhaust System

MODIFICATIONS: Triumph TR6 Overdrive Transmission; Aluminum radiator; 72 Spoke Chrome Wire Wheels; Halogen Headlights, Custom Exhaust System; Auxiliary Hood Release; Rebushed Throttle Shafts; TR4A Seats (Original to the Car); Burl Walnut Dash; Negative Ground; Cigarette Lighter Outlet

ISSUES/PROBLEMS: Please see Vehicle Inspection Report.

RUST: Structurally solid, with some surface rust on suspension components.

SERVICE RECORDS: All service records and receipts from 2009 to current.

LAST SERVICE: Ignition tune-up and brake/clutch fluids flushed August 2022.

Oil/filter service, fluids topped up, and cooling system drained & refreshed October 2021.

PAINT/BODY: Repainted Triumph Signal Red from original Black during an earlier restoration. A good color change with no evidence of the black paint. Nice shiny paint with some defects, a 10-footer. Noticeable filler spot on right fender where antenna was removed. Varying amount of filler on all body panels except hood, boot lid, and right front fender.

INTERIOR: The burl walnut dash is in good condition. Leather faced seats and rear seat bottom were redone during the restoration and are in good condition with a nice patina. (They are newer style TR4A seats that were installed at the factory as this car was built during the changeover to TR4As.) The carpets are in fair shape, with slight fading on the transmission tunnel carpet. Rubber floor mats have been installed.

CHASSIS/ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN: The 2.2L 4-cylinder engine was rebuilt with a replacement block in 2014. It starts easily, idles smooth, accelerates nicely, and runs strong with good oil pressure. The brake and clutch fluids were recently serviced. It shifts well, and stops straight.

WHEELS/TIRES: The 72 spoke Dayton chrome wire wheels were new in 2015 and in very nice condition. The Vredestein radial tires were new in 2009, have approximately 17,000 miles on them, and should be replaced before any extended high-speed cruising.
