VEHICLE HISTORY:   This low mileage Z28 was converted to a drag car when new, and the interior was removed for racing.  It was put back together in about 1978.  From there it ended up in Defiance , Ohio , where the owner had the car authenticated by Jerry MacNeish (Camaro Club Z28 Guru) in the mid 1990s.  The next owner purchased it in 2004 and proceeded to have the car redone by one of the area’s best restoration shops. This Body-Off-Frame restoration has one of the best paint jobs we have seen.  It is simply outstanding, not a defect or blemish evident.  Everything was done to original specifications including the factory assembly paint marks.  Checking all the numbers and specifications it is a real, authentic, Z28!  And it has only 5,000 miles!

 MARQUE HISTORY:  The second generation Camaro introduced in February 1970 (some call it a 1970 ½ Model) was all new.  It was longer, lower and wider than the previous Camaro and it had a wider track.  Its doors were longer and the roof was moved back giving the car a sleek long hood and short rear deck which typified the pony-car of the era.  The windshield was swept back increasing visibility. The interior of the car was completely redesigned with a new dashboard, console and other interior trim.

ENGINE NOTE:  The build date for this car on the trim tag is the 5^th week of May, and the block pad stamping is June 2^nd.  I had a recent conversation with the noted Z28 “Guru”, Jerry McNeish, http://www.z28camaro.com/ who indicated 99% of the time that the data plate had and “E” on the date code (meaning the 5^th week of the month), the engine stamping was the first week of the following month.  This information, plus a partial VIN on the block verifies this is the original engine that came with the car.
