VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:

OWNER HISTORY:  The current owner purchased this Ford F250 “Camper Special” a couple years ago.  He planned to use it to haul a trailer and take needy children on camping trips.  After he bought it he had the original 352CI V8 engine rebuilt, recored the radiator, added power steering, air conditioning, a trailer hitch, and a custom stainless dual exhaust with Flowmasters.  Last summer he brought it to our shop for the following to get it all ready for some trips:

Adjust choke cable                           Install new air filter

Install center seat belt                       Wire for trailer lights

Repair dash lights                             Remove loose wiring under dash

Tighten steering box bolts                Replace driver side king pin/bushings

Adjust steering box pre-load            Replace power steering pump

Repair oil pressure sender wire      Replace right rear wheel brake cylinder

Replace right rear axle seal Adjust brakes

Repair broken hood support            Replace/adjust emergency brake cables

Replace wiper blades                      Replace windshield washer pump

He also had some body work and paint work done so it looked as good as it ran.

After a couple camping trips he discovered this was just not what he had in mind.  The short rear end ratio in the Camper Special meant highway travel was pretty slow going, and being a large ¾ ton truck it was just too “trucky” for comfortable long distance cruising.

Prior to putting it up for sale he had our shop complete some more maintenance including an oil service and making sure all the lights and horn were operational.

He has invested over $19K in this truck.  He knows it is not worth that much but needs to move on, so it will be a bargain for the new owner!

MARQUE HISTORY:  The fourth generation of the Ford F Series trucks was completely redesigned for 1961 with a wider look.  Changes for the 1965 models were many:  Power was over 200 HP with a refresh of the powertrain; Twin I-Beam front suspension was introduced with coil springs; Grill was restyled, which consisted of 18 rectangular openings; Parking lights were moved to above the headlights with the “FORD” lettering in-between them.

It appears there were only 2,013 F250s produced with the separate cab chassis in 1965 and this one was optioned to the hilt with every heavy duty option available at the time (see below).

INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE:  A set of rubber “Ford” floor mats, and maintenance receipts since 2005.

VEHICLE CONDITION:

We do a complete 100 point mechanical and cosmetic inspection to each vehicle before listing it for sale.  There are always items that do not show up in photos that need to be mentioned so the new owner has no surprises.  A copy of this inspection is available by fax.

You can bid with confidence knowing we have disclosed everything we have found wrong with the vehicle.  Some people say I am too fussy, but we do the same type of inspection on vehicles we are purchasing for our Museum collection.  I feel it is only fair the buyer knows everything that is not perfect with the vehicle.

I feel so confident in our condition description that if you are not happy with the vehicle (or feel we have misrepresented it) when you come to pick it up we will refund your money.  Once it leaves our property however, this refund offer is withdrawn.

INTERIOR:  The interior is mostly original and showing its age.  It is in not as good condition as the exterior.  The door panels and dash have some wear, stains, and scratches.  The driver side of the seat cover is starting to tear.  The headliner and visors are worn and stained.  The vinyl floor mat is in pretty good condition but is tearing at the heel protector.

EXTERIOR:  From 10 feet away the truck looks very nice with just a few small dents noticeable.  A closer inspection shows orange peel in the paint and some touched up areas.  The hood and fenders have recently had some paint work.  There are no rust bubbles anywhere.  There is a small amount of filler evident in the bottom of the left front fender, driver door below the handle, left rear fender below the beltline, rear tailgate below the “FORD”, and bottom of the right front fender.  There is some dirt in the paint on the roof.

WINDOWS:  There are numerous stone chips in the windshield, the rest of the windows are fine.

BED:  The bed of the truck has been coated and is in good shape.

CHROME/TRIM:  The bumpers have some light scratching and the chrome is faded, but there are no dents.  They are shiny and in overall nice condition.  Some of the chrome and stainless trim is a faded.  There are a few dents in some of the stainless trim.  The grill is original and there are a few little dents.  The “Camper Special” lettering on the fender ornaments are fading off.

WHEELS/TIRES:  The Dayton Timberline HT P245/75R16 tires are relatively new with lots of tread left.  There is a 1” long curb ding in the left front wheel.  Other than that the painted heavy duty wheels are in good condition.

GAUGES/INSTRUMENTS/CONTROLS:  All gauges, instruments and controls operate as expected.  There is an aftermarket water temp gauge installed below the dash.  A.C. works fine.

RADIO:  The original AM radio works fine.

DRIVE TRAIN:  The 352CI starts right up, idles fine after a good warm-up, and runs down the road with no problem.  The 4 speed transmission is a little notchy but goes into all the gears as expected.  First gear is very low, a “Granny Gear” for heavy hauling.

BRAKES:  The brakes stop the truck just fine and the emergency brake works well.

STEERING:  The aftermarket power steering works fine, just a little squeal at full lock.

LIGHTS:  All lights, turn signals work as expected.  There is a separate switch on the dash for the clearance lights on the cab.

UNDERNEATH: Basically a very solid truck underneath.  There is some rust through on the left front body mount.  The driver’s floor has been patched along with both ends of the bed floor lateral brace structure.

UNDERHOOD:  The engine compartment is tidy and looks pretty good.
